Day 1
Arrive Buenos Aires, afternoon free for relaxation and settling in. Transfer to hotel
Day 2
Half Day city tour of Buenos Aires and various neighborhoods. La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta….afternoon/evening free. Anyone for a Tango Lesson?
Day 3
Excursion across River Plate to visit the wonderful World Heritage town of Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Return to BA for overnight.
Day 4
Fly to Patagonia, Trelew airport (3 hour flight). Reception at airport and transfer to El Pedral lodge on Punta Ninfas. Afternoon free to explore ranch and beach.
Day 5
Morning whale watching excursion to Puerto Piramide. Picnic lunch en-route. Return to lodge in the afternoon for a guided horseback ride around the estancia. Evening bonfire on the beach after dinner.
Day 6
Morning bike excursion to the lighthouse on Punta Ninfas, visit the Elephant Seal colony at point. Return to lodge for lunch. Afternoon visit to the Cracker Estancia to learn about the sheep farming activities of the local people. This evening, the children can help the cook prepare a traditional Argentine parrillada or grill.
Day 7
Depart lodge in the morning and visit the penguin colony at Punta Tombo where your family can walk amongst over a million penguins during the breeding season. Transfer to airport at Trelew for afternoon flight to Bariloche, located on the spine of the Andes. (a 2 hour flight). Reception at Bariloche airport and transfer to Areleuquen Lodge.
Day 8
Morning horseback ride around the lodge property and up to the top of Cerro Otto. Picnic on top of the mountain overlooking the lake district. Afternoon climbing and rappelling instruction on site. Even MOM can do it! Optional massage in the afternoon… Dinner at the lodge.
Day 9
Morning sea kayak or boat excursion around Lake Gutierrez, lunch on the beach. Return to lodge in the afternoon for more horseback riding or mountain biking on the trail network.
Day 10
Full day rafting excursion on the Manso river for the entire family. (Class III-IV rapids for the adventurous—or a less demanding part of the river for those with younger kids) Evening campout for the children, leaving the parents free to enjoy a romantic dinner and night together. ** Or free day to go into town, national park, etc..
Day 11
Transfer to the Bariloche airport for flight back to Buenos Aires with connections home or…continue the adventure traveling by boat to Chile….
*Extension: Also available, from BA, you could do a 2-3 day extension to Iguazu Falls. |
