Barging through Burgundy, Auxerre. A RASCALS exclusive! Offering the comforts of a hotel while lazily floating through the ancient canals of France, savor history, character and culture while being pampered on a 6-day cruise. Top your trip off with a visit to historic Normandy and a stay at a Chateau. Although the barge pace is slow, there are lots of activities: assisting with the locks, biking, sailing dinghies, picnics, vineyard and village visits. The barge is tailor made for one or two families.

Itinerary

Day 1-4 Arrive Paris. Discover the "City of Light" on your own.

Day 5-7 Private car transfer to Giverny, Monet's home, atelier and beautifully restored gardens in Normandy, then on to the Chateau of Canisy, your fairytale destination. Enjoy horseback riding, biking and the life style of years gone by. Arrange an optional side trip to walk through history on the D-Day Beaches (Omaha, Utah, Juno) or visit the beautiful Abbey Mt. St. Michel.

Day 8-13 Train transfers to Paris and on to Dijon. You will be met and transferred to your Barge for the next 6 nights. Enjoy Burgundy, the villages, the history and the wine. Although the barge pace is slow, there are lots of activities: biking, excursions to historic villages and palaces, and some of the finest wine tasting for which Burgundy is famous. This family owned and operated barge offers a high standard of comfort and personal attention, perfect for an individual family.

Day 14 Transfer to airport for flights home OR opt to enjoy the Domaine des Morillons, a centuries old Manor house. Horses, bikes and a pool will keep the kids occupied while parents enjoy excursions to local private wineries and learning a bit of French cooking.
