For centuries Spain’s warm climate and beautiful vistas have welcomed visitors---from the Romans, to the Moors, and now you. Your family will discover a rich history, outstanding museums, awesome Roman ruins, picturesque medieval towns, and the world famous Alhambra.

Our itinerary includes the highlights of Madrid and sun-splashed Andalusia. An optional extension to Barcelona can be arranged as well as beach time on the Costa Brava. Come, discover why Spain is always a winner!



Day 1-2
Depart home city for flights to Madrid. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 3
Meet your local English-speaking guide with a car and driver for your half-day city tour of Madrid, complete with a visit to the Royal Palace, which contains one of the largest collections of books, maps, manuscripts, and musical scores in the world. Remainder of day at leisure.

Day 4
Today you will enjoy a half-day tour of the Prado Museum, which houses one of the finest art collections in the world (including Spanish painters Velaquez, Murillo, and Goya). Remainder of day at leisure.


Day 5

English-speaking driver will take you on a full day tour of Toledo where, in addition to visiting the cathedral, the Church of Santo Tome, and the Jewish Quarter, you will enjoy a hands on visit to a sword factory. Your family will learn about the history of the world famous Toledo swords, and see them made!


Day 6
Embark on a 2.5 hour train ride to Seville, after which you will be transported to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy a half-day walking tour that includes a visit to the cathedral (which contains the tomb of Christopher Columbus), a bullfighting ring, and the Casa de Pilatos which dates from 1483.

Day 7
A morning visit to the Alcazar, one of the best examples of Mudehar (Christian-Muslim) architecture, followed by a visit to Sevilla's Jewish Quarter (Santa Cruz district). Remainder of day at leisure.

Day 8-9
Drive to Ronda. Spend the next day and a half enjoying Ronda on your own, exploring the old Moorish town just across the Puerto Nuevo bridge and ogling at the whitewashed houses leaning from the precipitous edges of the El Tajo river gorge. Perhaps drive to see the 30,000-year-old rock art at the nearby Cuevas de la Pileta.

Day 10
Drive to La Bobadilla, an elegant country resort near the city of Cordoba. The hotel is a replica of an Arab village, with a chapel, a labyrinth of courtyards and flower-lined passageways and a marble colonnade. The spacious rooms are individually decorated and furnished with all the conveniences necessary. Available activities include mountain biking, ATV'ing, horseback riding, a gourmet restaurant indoor and outdoor pools, and yes! a spa!

Day 11
Depart for Granada to enjoy a private 3.5-hour tour of the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens. This 14th century hilltop fortress-palace is the most remarkable monument to Moorish art in the world. Remainder of day is on your own-perhaps lunch in the Moorish quarter or visit the cathedral to see the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella.

Day 12
Enjoy a wonderful day on your own at La Bobadilla.

Day 13
Drive to the Malaga airport and fly home. OR Continue on to Barcelona!

Optional Barcelona Extension:

Day 1
Arrive in Barcelona where you will be transferred to your hotel. Later that afternoon, enjoy a half-day walking tour of the city.

Day 2
An English-speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel to take you on a half-day tour of Modernist Barcelona, which focuses on Gaudi's architecture. You will visit Park Guell and see his unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. The remainder of the day will be spent at your leisure.

Day 3
Enjoy this day at your leisure. Or enjoy an optional day trip to ancient and quaint Gerona (where you will tour not only the old town but will have the opportunity to visit the famous Dali Museum en route!)

Day 4
Transfer to the Barcelona airport. Fly home.
