Solomon Islands

We've found the Hawaii of 100 years ago! Steeped in WWII history, the Solomon Islands offers beautiful beaches, colorful markets, excellent SCUBA diving and traditional villages and cultures.

  Uepi

Uepi offers some of the best reef, wall and drift dives in the Solomon Islands with colorful corals and large pelagics. Most dives are single tank boat dives, returning to the dive shed for air, a shower and a nap between outings. Uepi has no crime and it is safe to leave all your gear hanging in front of the dive shop for your entire visit. "Uepi Point", just 100 meters from the dive shed, boasts a parade of fish including schools of barracuda, trevally, shark and jack filing past walls smothered in gorgonian fans, sponges, sea whips and soft corals. Wade in the wooden wharf and discover the delights of "Uepi Pier". Search for grey whaler sharks and clouds of schooling fish. "South Log" is memorable at night. Turn off your flashlight and marvel at the swarms of flashlight fish.

  Honiara

Situated on the island of Guadalcanal, Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands and the first port of call for visitors. The largest town in the Solomons, Honiara is steeped in island culture and immediately arouses your senses to the islands' unique flavour.

Honiara offers excellent and easy diving off stunning reefs, drop-offs and caves. Guadalcanal witnessed some of the worst naval battles in history and was the turning point in the Pacific campaign. From troop carriers and transporters to submarines and planes, the Solomons offers an incredible range of wreck dive sites. You'll enter the water off flat beaches with very little surf. The "Hirokawa Maru", 6860 tons attacked by bombers and beached on November 14, 1942, starts in 3 meters of water and continues to 50 meters. There's excellent coral growth and fish life for divers of all abilities to discover.

For diving parents with diving teens, Honiara is the home to three live-aboard dive boats, the M/V Bilikiki, her sister ship, the SPIRIT OF THE SOLOMONS as well the M/V SOLOMON SEA. Travel to the Russell Group of islands, renowned for their unspoiled beauty and weather permitting, on 10 day trips up to the New Georgia group.

  Gizo

All dives are boat dives visiting wrecks, reefs and drop-offs. The "Toa Maru", a Japanese transport ship in 18-37 meters of water, is littered with interesting relics. "Grand Central Station", a wall dive starting in 10 meters and going down to 50 meters, is lush with soft corals and patrolled by large pelagics including sharks. "Corsair Reef" boasts the largest population of clown fish in the world and is home to a wrecked Corsair plane. "Manta Ray Road" channel feeding ground to Mantas. We recommend diving with the outstanding dive operators, Adventure Sports, Gizo.
